Tour Description

At times when the people in the group and their guide have never had mutual climbing experience, scheduling a tour in which every participant would have a successful ascent is quite tricky. In some cases, increasing the duration of the trip could help solve the issue. However, in many other cases, mountaineers who come to Iran to climb Damavand have a limited time scheduled. We’ve planned our 3-day tour package from the south climbing route of Damavand with that in mind. We’ve designed this package in IranAmaze to ensure the success ascent rate of all mountaineers with a healthy physical state prepared for trekking. The health of the participants and the height adaptation have been our main priorities for arranging this tour. Also, there is enough time scheduled on the journey to enjoy the beautiful sceneries of Damavand. All of these factors have been put together into the shortest ascent schedule! The south route is the easiest and safest route. We’ll spend the first night at base camp, the second night at camp three, and after reaching the summit, you’ll be spending your third night in Tehran!

The guide will come to pick you up at 8 am. Then, before the 3-hour drive to get to the foothill of Damavand, we’ll have a short introduction session. It will familiarize us with the ascent schedule and the technical tips we’d need to know beforehand. Right after having lunch in a foothill village of Polur, we’ll get to the entrance of the protected area of Lar. We’d need to use 4WD vehicles to drive up to the base camp afterward. Based on the specific circumstances at the time of our travel, we’ll either stay in the hostel at the base camp or set up our tents in the camp area. We’ll climb 500 meters in height for acclimation.

Afterward, we’ll have some rest and head back to the base camp. We’ll have dinner and sleep for the night! However, staying up a bit longer to enjoy the extraordinary view of mountains and plains from this 2950-meter-high location won’t hurt!

    Description

On the morning of the 2nd day after having a nutritious breakfast, we’ll turn in our backpacks to the porters. So, the mules can bring them up for us while we’ll head to the camp 3 on a gentle slope! The route is full of diverse plant species and extraordinary views. After 4 hours, we’ll arrive at the old shelter of camp 3 at 4220 meters’ height, which was built 52 years ago. However, there is also a new shelter built right next to it. It has all the needed facilities such as restrooms, drinking water, kitchen, electricity, and even rooms. After settling down, we’ll have our fresh warm meal. Then, we’ll climb up 4700 for acclimation. We’ll spend some time there looking at the clouds underneath our feet in silence or enjoying the extraordinary scenery of other peaks of Alborz mountain range or the beautiful Lar Dam lake.

After returning to camp 3, we’ll pack our backpacks. Then, we’ll have a light dinner prepared for us, and soon after, we’ll get in our sleeping bags for some excellent rest before reaching the summit the day after.

    Description

The third day is the day we’ve been waiting and planning for all along! Around 5 am, we’ll have a delicious breakfast to keep us going until we reach the summit. We’ll slowly start trekking up to the peak. At 5100 heights next to an icefall, we’ll rest a bit and take some memorable photos. We’ll slowly begin smelling the sulfur and stepping into the sulfur hills. After passing the sub-volcano crater that spreads a substantial volume of sulfur into the air, we’ll slowly find ourselves right at the top of the highest summit in the middle east! This hike will take about 5 hours. We’ll take legendary photos at the volcanic hemisphere of Damavand. Then, the joy of seeing the many unique sceneries in the north, south, west, and east fills our hearts. Afterward, we’ll head back to camp 3 through the sand skiing track.

Then, we celebrate our excitement from conquering the highest mystical summit in the middle east over lunch. Afterward, it’s time to pack our bags and turn them to the porters again. As they carry our bags down for us, we’ll head to the base camp to drive back to Tehran from the scenery Haraz road.
