In the distant past, travelers sought refuge at the Maranjab Caravanserai, which has a history dating back more than 300 years. It is located in the middle of the Namak Desert and close to Namak Lake (also known as Salt Lake). One of the castle’s undiscovered miracles is its supply of fresh, potable water, which has served as a rest stop for passing caravans in this arid land. The Silk Road passes right by this caravanserai.
The Caravanserai is now a destination for nature and history buffs, drawing a large number of domestic and international visitors each year to explore the Maranjab Desert in an ethereal atmosphere of calm serenity. This location also houses one of Iran’s observatories, which draws skywatchers from all over the nation who want to take in the stars in peace. Maranjab Caravanserai is situated at an altitude of 810 meters above sea level, 50 kilometers to the northeast of Aran-Va Bidgol County in the province of Isfahan. This area leads to the Kavir Desert in the east and the Yakhab and Latif Mountain twin mountains in the southeast.
